HTC One V is a smartphone that comes with 1.0GHz single core processor, 3.7-inch SLCD2 display boasting 480 x 800 pixel resolution, 4GB of internal storage and 512MB of RAM. These features together with a 5.0-megapixel camera at the back place it at the entry level of new One lineup from the company; however the One V runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich that’s always a good thing. Furthermore, it gets HTC ImageChip that enables for all good camera stuff in the new One line, including the capability to shoot pictures while you shooting video and low light abilities.

The bent chin of HTC One V is a refreshing take on old design, while its aluminium chassis feels great. It features a unique accessory to your life and a distinctive curved chin design, which makes it easy to hold. However, don’t be deceived by its small size. Like all One series smartphones, the One V offers impressive list of features such as a class leading camera, which captures every moment (even in low light) with vivid, crisp and beautiful photos and Beats Audio with which you hear deep, authentic sound with finely tuned, true details. Its camera starts up in just under a second to make sure you capture the moment. Plus with video and photo capture buttons on the same display, it is easy to simply snap a photo or switch modes while recording high definition simultaneously.

The new, integrated music experience makes it easy to access all your favorite audio applications, Internet radio and music libraries at the same time from one convenient location. With Beats Audio built-in, you get rich, authentic sound. View rich web content, whether Flash or HTML 5 on the go. The company’s Text Reflow feature adjusts text to the width of your display, meaning no more panning right and left. The Read Later keeps a copy of what you are browsing so you can read it later without an internet connection. With Dropbox incorporated into HTC Sense, you can involuntarily save all your videos and photos to Dropbox and share and access all your images directly from Gallery. It also makes it easy to share and edit files while you are on the go, so you never have to email yourself a document again.

As a lower cost sibling to higher end One S and One X of HTC, the HTC One V won’t win the processor speed race, however comes loaded with some surprises on its own. The One V was announced at the same time like the One S and One X in the month of February this year at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. It’s a low cost alternative to the company’s high end offerings. It boasts a 3.7 inch WVGA Super LCD 2 touchscreen display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection and offers 800 x 480 pixel resolution. Like One X, the company decided to use physical touch sensitive buttons rather than onscreen keys.

In spite of its aluminium chassis, the HTC One V weighs just 4.06 ounces and measures 0.36 inch sleek. The volume rocker button is situated on the right hand side of the device, while the 3.5mm headphone jack and power button on top. The microUSB charging port is on the left. Powering the One V is an Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC Sense 4.0 user interface layer. In spite of having 5.0-megapixel camera, it features a BSI (backside illuminated) sensor and is capable of capturing still images and burst images while video recording. The camera quality is generally good like One X; probably it’s due to the 1.0GHz single core processor. Color balance is inaccurate under strong incandescent lighting. Some of the connectivity options on One V include HSPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.

While it is never too late for an upgrade, in times where many dual-core smartphones gain Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich it is nearly humorous how much time it took T-Mobile and LG to do this. This all new handset will gain the upgrade in batches till 14th May.

Price: Rs. 25,000

Samsung Focus S is an excellent Windows Phone with big, gorgeous touchscreen display, smooth performance, front facing 1.3 megapixel camera, good 8.0-megapixel camera, light and thin design, HSPA+ speeds, engaging interface, great music and gaming experience and loudspeaker. Providing a premium, powerful Windows Mobile smartphone experience in pocket friendly design, it is powered by the most recent Windows Phone 7.5 OS, which boasts plenty of improvements, including threaded conversations that move with you from Facebook to text and back again, video and photo capture and multitasking. At just 8.5mm at its sleekest, the Focus S is the thinnest 4G Windows Phone handset. Additionally, it features a Super AMOLED 4.3 inch multi-touchscreen display, which provides blacker blacks with superior views from any angle and deeper and richer colors.

The Samsung Focus S is fundamentally a successor to one of the best selling Windows Phone known as Samsung Focus and a slate smartphone unveiled in United States in 2011. Currently, it is available exclusively through AT&T and is only around 8.5mm at its sleekest point, making it stylish, pretty easy to slip into tightest jeans pocket and beautiful. With 8.0-megapixel camera, you can not only take beautiful images and video, but also get into the act. Smile! Strengthened by a brilliant screen and strong hardware specifications, the Focus S is arguably the best Windows Phone ever.

The Windows Phone OS has arrived on abundance of cellphones, but none of the manufacturers has yet been capable for designing a killer Windows Phone for United States market till now. The Samsung Focus S, a light and thin device introduced by AT&T is a beautiful smartphone with good 8.0-megapixel rear facing camera, front facing 1.3 megapixel camera and 4.3 inch Super AMOLED display. It is the same shell like AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S II phone, minus Android operating system and plus physical camera button. It is offered for Rs. 25,000.

Classy, open and sleek are the three words, which describe the Samsung Focus S with curved corners and flat sides. Like the Skyrocket and Galaxy S II smartphones of AT&T, the S has slightly dimpled back cover with slight rise where cover snaps into place at the bottom. It measures 5 inches high, 0.3 inch thick and 2.6 inches wide and weighs 3.9 ounces. The Focus S sports a Super AMOLED 4.3 inch touchscreen display, which provides WVGA resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and 16 million color support. Unlike other smartphones in the market, the colors stand out from the display and are vivid. Motivation for the Focus S comes from a Windows Phone 7.5 Mango OS with simple interface, and is simply single start screen populated with dynamic live tiles.

The 1.3 megapixel front facing camera of Samsung Focus S is situated above the screen, whereas the 3 touch sensitive buttons correspond to back, home and search. Pressing and holding the back button enables you to switch among tasks. The power button and camera shutter is located on the right hand side of the smartphone, while the volume rocker button on the left. The microUSB charging port is situated at the bottom of the device, whereas the 3.5mm headphone jack on the top. Flip the phone over to locate the 8.0-megapixel rear facing camera with LED flash.

The Samsung Focus S includes 4G HSPA+ network that’s faster unlike 3G network. As an Android handset, it comes with multimedia messaging, built in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. You get email and social networking integration via support for account log-ins in settings and group messaging, an option for linking inboxes together. The address book is limited and there is capability to thread messages sent between IM and traditional texting in same thread with task switching support. Basic features include voice prompts for voice dialing, conference calling and speakerphone. Essentials are calendar, clock, Internet Explorer 9 with HTML5 support, podcast subscriptions and calculator.

AT&T has also added some of its own apps on Samsung Focus S; these include AT&T U-verse Mobile, QR code and bar code scanner, MyWireless, AT&T Radio and AT&T Navigator with turn by turn directions. Samsung has added some extras, including Photo Studio application with basic editing tools. Microsoft continues to win support by adding excellent music mixing DJ features and Music+Videos hub with Zune integration and Zune Pass. The Bing’s new Mango gains music identification and optical scan and search, which works well on Focus S. Without microSD memory card slot, the built in 16GB is an upper limit for local storage. Switching between camera and video mode is simple, as is accessing multiple settings for white balance, image resolution, photo effect sharpness, ISO, contrast and more.

Standard features on Samsung Focus S include 3G Network: HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100; 2G Network: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900; Accelerometer; proximity; compass; Super AMOLED 4.3 inch Plus capacitive touchscreen with 480 x 800 pixel resolution and 16 million color support; Practically unlimited entries and fields, Photocall; Touch-sensitive controls; HSDPA, HSUPA; 16GB/32GB storage, 512 MB RAM; 8.0-megapixel camera with 3264 x 2448 pixels, autofocus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, image stabilization and smile detection and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.

Also standard on Samsung Focus S are 1.4 GHz Scorpion; Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango; Stereo FM radio with RDS; SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Mail, IM, RSS; AT&T U-verse Mobile, GPS with A-GPS support; Document viewer/editor; NavigatorSM, FamilyMap, Radio, myWireless; Organizer; MP3/WAV/WMA/eAAC+ player; Predictive text input; Voice memo /dial /commands; Phonebook: Unlimited entries, Caller groups, Multiple numbers per contact, Search by both first and last name, Picture ID and Ring ID; MP4/H.264/H.263/WMV player and Organizer: Calendar, Alarm, Document viewer, World clock and Calculator.

The Samsung Focus S also adds Bluetooth profiles: Generic Access (GAP), Handsfree (HFP), Service Discovery Protocol (SDP), Headset (HSP), Advanced Audio Distribution (A2DP), Serial Port (SPP), Logical Link Control and Adaptation Protocol, Generic Audio/Video Distribution (GAVDP), Audio/Video Control Transport Protocol (AVCTP), Audio/Visual Remote Control Profile (AVRCP), Phone Book Access (PBAP) and Audio/Video Distribution Transport Protocol (AVDTP); Notifications: Music ringtones (MP3), Polyphonic ringtones, Vibration, Flight mode, Silent mode and Speakerphone. The estimated battery life of Focus S is 6.5 hours in talktime mode and 10 days in standby mode. On the whole, it offers Microsoft’s mobile platform the closest it’s ever been to being in direct competition with Android and iOS smartphones.
